Gifts in Wills

By including a gift in your Will,  to SensesWA, you are making a powerful commitment that will make a significant and lasting difference to people with disability.

There are a variety of ways to include SensesWA in your Will, none of which will impact on your lifestyle, but will leave a lasting legacy. Some of these include monetary gifts, estate proceeds and disbursements set up through trusts and foundations.

If you wish to leave a gift in your Will to SensesWA, we can provide specific wording used in writing your Will.

Your generosity will assist a number of programs supporting our clients, enabling them to experience a better quality of life.

The Lionel Miller Centre in Armadale

The state-of-the art Lionel Miller Centre in Armadale supports clients in the South-East metro area.  It was constructed as a result of a generous bequest of the late Mrs Irena Miller, wife of Lionel.

Born in Wagin, Lionel was a highly successful businessman and pioneer of property development and constructed many of the earliest ‘apartment’ complexes and estates around Perth.  He was a generous man throughout his life and after his death, Irena wanted to ensure Lionel’s generosity was recognised.

In Irena’s Will she stipulated a purpose-built facility for people with disability and with one condition was that the building was named after Lionel.

While Irena didn’t have a disability, she was a very creative person.  As an artist and dressmaker Irena loved colour and light.  She wanted to leave a legacy to an organisation that supported people with no or low vision.

As a visual creative she often spoke of how not being able to see and interact with the beautiful world around her, she just couldn’t imagine life without sight.

In an interesting twist of fate, the wife of one of Irena and Lionel’s nephews has worked at SensesWA as an Occupational Therapist for over ten years; well after Irena’s Will was written, but prior to her sad passing.

Having a current and up to date Will ensures that there is a legal document outlining your wishes.

Once you have made the decision to leave a bequest to SensesWA you will be assured that one day, your support will help people with disability.
