Everybody has the right to live a good life, to feel safe and to be heard. I love celebrating the wins with people and those supporting them.
Understanding what people and their families want their lives to look like and supporting them to achieve it fills my cup. Working with individuals with a deafblind, Deaf+ and/or low vision diagnosis is my passion. This community of individuals is small, at high risk of isolation and are often subject to judgement of their capacity on appearance rather than through getting to know them.
I am passionate about breaking down barriers, creating understanding within the community and meaningful connection for the people I work with.
What do you love about your job in PBS?
My customers. I love working with them, supporting them to advocate for themselves and advocating for the access to information and agency.
What makes your approach to Positive Behaviour Support unique?
My passion for upholding the right to information for those living with a deafblind, Deaf+ and/or low vision diagnosis. I have worked in the space for over 11 years across a number of roles and have a great passion and sense of advocacy for upholding this communities right to information and access to what they need.

Elton Chisholm
I have five years of experience as a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner and support clients with a wide range of conditions including autism (ASD), ADHD, schizophrenia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), intellectual disability (ID), and anxiety.
Before becoming a PBS Practitioner, I worked as a support worker and also had a career in business. With broad life experience, I’m able to build strong rapport with participants from many different backgrounds.
I have a particular interest in working with young adult males and helping them to develop skills in emotional and mood regulation through problem-solving.
What do you love about your job?
I enjoy seeing the positive impact I have on my participants. I make it a priority to treat each individual uniquely and discover what motivates them. Each day is different, and I appreciate the chance to use my problem-solving skills.
I also love meeting new people and building relationships with participants and their support networks. It is rewarding for me to empower my participants and their supporters to advocate for the resources they need.
What makes your approach to Positive Behaviour Support unique?
I focus on building a respectful rapport with my participants. I strive to make my sessions engaging and interactive. I also value connecting with their support teams and have a strength in relating to them effectively.

Dillon Funk

I have studied psychology and also have experience as a support worker where I learned how mental health challenges and disabilities affect every day life and common areas where people might need assistance.
I am interested in developmental psychology and understanding age-appropriate developmental needs of boys and young men in today’s social landscape.
What do you love about your job?
What I enjoy most about Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is working with the person and the people close to them. I help identify any needs that might not be getting met and work out the difference between behaviours that are a normal part of growing up and those that might be more serious or concerning.
I look at how the person is doing in different areas — physically, emotionally, developmentally, and behaviourally. I help everyone involved understand what the person needs from others and from themselves, while also being clear about what others expect from them.
What makes your approach to Positive Behaviour Support unique?
I work with each family based on where they’re at, helping us build a shared understanding of where they want to go. I offer practical strategies that go beyond just writing a Behaviour Support Plan.
I focus on helping people understand how boys and men think and behave in ways that make sense for their stage of development. I start with the person and their life context first, before looking at any disability or diagnosis.
My goal is to understand why someone acts the way they do, what’s influencing that, and how I can help others make sense of it too. I combine scientific knowledge with real-world experience to create meaningful, creative strategies that go deeper than quick-fix behaviour tips.
Qualifications and memberships:
- Bachelor of Science (Psychological Science)
- Bachelor of Science (Psychology in Society)

People are my passion. I find so much fulfilment in connecting with individuals and supporting them to feel understood at the core of who they truly are, particularly those who often feel misunderstood.
I lead with warmth, empathy and transparency which enables me to build strong relationships with my customers and their families and collaborate with the system that surrounds them.
I believe that all behaviour is communicating something. My deep curiosity for people motivates me to fully explore and understand what someone’s behaviour means for them as an individual so I can develop meaningful strategies that will positively impact their lives.
What do you love about your job?
I love my clients most of all! Getting to know who they truly are and helping them to feel completely understood. It’s amazing to see people open up and grow when they receive the right support for their unmet needs.
What makes your approach to Positive Behaviour Support unique?
Having strong relationships and building a deep understanding of my clients underpins all my PBS work. I build my PBS Plans and strategies hand-in-hand with my clients and those close to them so my contribution to their lives is truly meaningful.

Monica Herrero Vargas

Monica Herrero Vargas
I’m a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner with a background in Special Education and Neurodevelopment, and teaching experience in Spain and Germany. While I’ve supported people of all ages, I’ve always felt most connected to individuals with additional needs. Even as a teacher, I was drawn to observing, listening, and helping students who needed support to communicate and thrive—this is what inspired me to move into PBS.
Now living in Australia, I bring a warm, inclusive, and culturally aware approach to behaviour support. I love working alongside individuals and families to create practical, strengths-based strategies that build confidence, reduce stress, and support greater independence. I speak four languages, and I’m passionate about making people feel heard, respected, and empowered. Whether I’m supporting a young child or an adult, I believe behaviour support should be collaborative, kind, and grounded in real life.
What do you love about your job?
What I love most is seeing people grow at their own pace, in their own way. Supporting someone through a challenge and watching them achieve something they couldn’t do before is an amazing feeling. Whether it’s helping a child communicate, supporting a teenager to feel more confident, or helping an adult build independence, every success counts. I also love working with families and support teams to make daily life feel more manageable and connected. It’s meaningful work, and it brings me a lot of joy.
What makes your approach to Positive Behaviour Support unique?
My background as a teacher really shaped how I support others. I’m always thinking about the whole person, their needs, environment, and relationships. I listen deeply, observe carefully, and adapt strategies so they work in real life, not just on paper. My international experience and love of languages also help me build strong connections with people from different backgrounds. I make sure support is practical, respectful, and empowering.
Qualifications and memberships:
- Masters in Learning Difficulties Intervention and Special Education
- Masters in Neurodevelopmental Disorders
- Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Language Specialisation)
- Member of Positive Behaviour Support Australia
