Support Worker – Supported Independent Living

At SensesWA, we focus on recruiting the right people and offering targeted training so we can seamlessly match a person with a disability with the right support worker to engage in new experiences, establish community connections, develop independent living skills and live a fulfilling life.

We are currently seeking passionate and reliable support workers to work across our Supported Independent Living Group Homes in the Gosnells and Thornlie area to provide support to individual clients with disability, verbal and non-verbal participants with all aspects of daily living including personal care and community access support.

Essential Criteria:

  • An ability and willingness to support people with providing Personal Care and participate in a range of social and leisure activities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people with a range of disabilities, including working with non-verbal, vision impaired.
  • Demonstrated experience in high care and complex behaviours.
  • A patient and reliable Support Worker who is dedicated to consistently providing high quality care.
  • Desirable: Keyword signing, Positive Behaviour Support experience
  • Dedicated to working as a team and works well in a group environment.
  • Possess a high level of trust, honesty and integrity and be able to maintain professional relationships.
  • Have a high level of resilience and experience working with people who may present with difficult and challenging situations.
  • Be computer and mobile phone savvy in order to access mobile app, work emails and web-based applications such as rosters, case notes and incident reports.
  • Provide and maintain proof of eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Current ‘First Aid’ certificate (with at least 1 year validity remaining).
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Current WA Working With Children’s Check; and
  • Current Australian Driver’s License and a comprehensively insured vehicle.

Desirable Criteria:

  • An ability to provide personal care to people who need it, including support with feeding and Personal Hygiene including bowl care, dressing and hoisting.
  • Willingness to undergo various related paid trainings as provided by the organisation.
  • Certificate III or IV in Disability.
  • Keyword signing
  • Positive Behaviour Support experience
  • Experience working within the Deafblind Community.
