Hannah smashes her goal getting back to Optus

One of Hannah’s goals was to return to a football game at the Perth Stadium.

Six years ago, Hannah was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 2, and since Hannah’s surgery 2 years ago, she has not been able to attend football at the stadium.

Hannah’s initial neurosurgery resulted in hearing loss, with further surgery resulting in complex vision loss. With both hearing and vision loss Hannah is supported by wraparound services from SensesWA including a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Orthoptist and Orientation and Mobility Specialist.

Hannah along with her Physiotherapist (also named Hannah!) visited Optus Stadium prior to the football match to practice going up and down the stairs, getting in and out of the chairs, and getting around the stadium grounds.

Recently Hannah attended a Fremantle vs Hawthorn game with her husband, it was a great day as her team won, but this also was the day Hannah smashed her goal of getting back to Optus Stadium to the football.

“It was brilliant! I followed the path I’d practiced with my Physiotherapist. Most people were respectful of the cane, even though it was so busy.”
